New York City (January 6, 2016) — NYC & Company, New York City’s official tourism, marketing and partnership organization, welcomes back the 111th Annual Progressive Insurance New York Boat Show to New York City, which brings lifelong boaters and enthusiastic dreamers the latest in luxury motor yachts, sport fishers, performance boats, watersports vessels and personal watercraft, along with thousands of new marine technologies and accessories. The five-day convention starting today and running through Sunday, January 10, is expected to bring nearly 40,000 attendees and more than 325 exhibitors to the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center.

“As a harbor and river city, water sports and boating are an exciting aspect of the New York City experience for New Yorkers and visitors alike,” said Fred Dixon, president and CEO of NYC & Company. “The Annual Progressive Insurance New York Boat Show is an important opportunity to shine a spotlight on this activity, and we welcome their exhibitors and buyers back to NYC.”

Since its inception, the Progressive Insurance New York Boat Show, the world’s largest boat show, has welcomed more than eight million boating enthusiasts to explore the best of life on the water, and served as a key revenue generator for boating businesses in New York and beyond. The event gives outdoor enthusiasts the opportunity to see and shop the latest models and product launches from marine manufacturers.

“As the world’s first and longest-running boat show, we are proud to continue the tradition of innovation that started 110 years ago right here in New York,” said Jon Pritko, Progressive Insurance New York Boat Show manager. “2016 brings an exciting year of business for boat manufacturers and dealers, with increased sales on the horizon and more accessible ways to get on the water at every turn.”

Show highlights include:

  • Hands-on learning opportunities, including The Progressive Boat School, featuring an opportunity for novices and pros to boost their boating IQ, and Discover Fishing Seminars, a series of seminars produced by the Recreational Fishing Alliance.
  • The chance to see and shop magnificent motor yachts, tricked out runabouts and hundreds of new boats, plus cutting edge technologies. With everything from kayaks, sailboats, sport fishers and power yachts, and even boats that can be financed for less than $250 a month, there is a boat for every lifestyle and budget at the show. There will also be tours of the “Queen of the Show,” a 50-foot Sea Ray 510 Sundancer yacht.
  • Kid-friendly activities, which include the opportunity to build a nautical masterpiece of their own and take photos with a pirate. In addition, the whole family can check out the all-new Miss GEICO race boat, the world’s fastest catamaran breaking speeds of 200 mph.
