LEADERSHIP IN TOURISM AWARD DINNER HONORS TIME WARNER, MAJOR LEAGUE BASEBALL AND TISHMAN REALTY & CONSTRUCTION
Richard D. Parsons, Bud Selig and Daniel R. Tishman All Were On Hand to Accept the Honors at the Annual Event Held at Chelsea Piers
New York, NY (December 5, 2007) NYC & Company, the official marketing and tourism organization for New York City, held its annual Leadership in Tourism Award Dinner last night at Pier 60 in Chelsea Piers. The event, emceed by CNN anchor John Roberts, benefits the NYC & Company Foundation—whose mission is to support tourism to New York City—and honored Time Warner, Inc., Major League Baseball and Tishman Realty & Construction Co., Inc. for their contributions to New York City’s tourism industry.
“This event is a way for us to give thanks and honor those companies and individuals that have supported the travel and tourism—one of the City’s largest industries,” said George Fertitta, CEO, NYC & Company. “Time Warner, Major League Baseball and Tishman Realty & Construction—through perception-changing, forward-thinking initiatives and projects—have helped make New York City one of the world’s most modern, diverse and multi-faceted travel destinations.”
Richard D. Parsons, Chairman and CEO of Time Warner, Inc., Allan H. (Bud) Selig, Commissioner of Major League Baseball and Daniel R. Tishman, President of Tishman Realty & Construction Co., Inc. were all on hand to accept the award on behalf of his company.
Also participating in the evening’s program were NYC & Company Chairman Jonathan M. Tisch and CEO George Fertitta. New York City’s tourism industry supports more than 350,000 jobs and generates nearly $25 billion in spending. In 2006, the City welcomed a record 43.8 million visitors and remains committed to Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg’s goal of attracting 50 million visitors to the City by 2015.
