NYC & COMPANY AND WNBC'S NEWS 4 YOU GET INTO THE SWING OF TENNIS

—NYC Visit Gears up for the 125th Annual US Open Tournament with Tennis Activities and Attractions throughout New York City—

New York, NY (August 13, 2007)—WNBC's Perri Peltz and Tiffany Townsend of NYC & Company, New York City's official marketing and tourism organization, got into the swing of tennis on the Friday, August 10 NYC Visit segment of WNBC's News 4 You. This week's segment highlighted tennis activities and attractions around the City as fans gear up for the 125th annual US Open tournament, which begins August 27.

"People around the world will focus on New York City during the US Open this month," said Townsend. "The tournament is the crown jewel of New York City's tennis scene and a destination for anyone who enjoys the sport. This week, we're providing a variety of options for all things tennis: events, playing, shopping and more."

This week's segment featured: the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center, Prospect Park Tennis Center and specialty shop Mason's Tennis.

"Many people think of tennis as a summer-only sport," said host Perri Peltz. "But tennis fans can play year-round in New York City. Public and private tennis courts for all skill levels are available around the City, and there are plenty of shops to pick up the clothing and equipment in every borough."

The US Open is one of the largest tennis events in the world. Players, such as Andre Agassi and Venus Williams, have become household names through their memorable performances. This year's tournament, which brings more than 400 players from over 65 countries to New York City, runs August 27 through September 9.

The USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Queens is the home of the US Open. The Center is the largest public tennis facility in the world and includes 23 outdoor courts and 9 indoor courts, which are open for play most of the year.

The Prospect Park Tennis Center in Brooklyn, also a public court, offers group classes, lessons and league play for both children and adults. Players can also enjoy post-game meals at 40 Love Café located on the premises.

Located in Midtown Manhattan, Mason's Tennis has been serving the tennis elite and beginners alike for nearly 30 years. The shop carries a variety of tennis equipment and apparel, and offers related services.
