NYC SUMMER RESTAURANT WEEK BEGINS TODAY
Culinary Celebration Offers Prix-Fixe $24.07 Lunches and $35.00 Dinners at more than 230 of New York City’s Top Restaurants
New York, NY (July 21, 2008) NYC & Company today announced the start of Summer Restaurant Week 2008—two weeks of dining deals for New Yorkers and visitors. More than 230 restaurants will offer three-course prix-fixe lunches for $24.07 and three-course prix-fixe dinners $35.00 (excluding beverage, tax and gratuity). The promotion runs Monday - Friday, from July 21–July 25 and July 28–August 1.
“NYC Summer Restaurant Week 2008 provides New Yorkers and visitors alike the chance to experience New York City’s finest restaurants,” said NYC & Company CEO George Fertitta. “With more than 230 restaurants to choose from, this year’s promotion offers exceptional value, variety and quality, all while dining for a good cause.”
Now in its 17th year, NYC Restaurant Week 2008 brings together many of New York City’s most sought-after restaurants — Eleven Madison Park, Mai House, Artisanal, Gramercy Tavern, maze by Gordon Ramsay, Le Cirque, City Hall, Fig & Olive, Park Avenue Summer, and Tribeca Grill. Notable newcomers this year include Bar Boulud, Town, Wakiya, Mia Dona, Rayuela, Bar Milano and La Goulue.
"NYC Restaurant Week is one of the most eagerly awaited dining experiences of the year," said Tracy Nieporent, Myriad restaurant Group partner and NYC & Company Restaurant Committee Chairman. "It is the single largest culinary event in the country, and in offering a better value than ever before, it allows us to demonstrate the quality, variety, and hospitality that makes New York City the restaurant capital of the world."
Select restaurants will extend their NYC Restaurant Week menus and rates though Labor Day. For a complete list of participating restaurants, lunch and dinner prix-fixe menus and to book a reservation online, visit nycgo.com.
This year, Restaurant Week Founding Sponsor American Express and NYC & Company have partnered to support City Harvest. American Express will donate $.50 per transaction when diners pay with any American Express® Card at participating restaurants during NYC Restaurant Week 2008, up to $25,000. This partnership will help City Harvest reach their goal to rescue 20 million pounds of excess food from all segments of the food industry - including restaurants, manufacturers, wholesalers, greenmarkets, hotels, corporate cafeterias, grocery stores and farms - and deliver it to more than 600 community food programs throughout the five boroughs using a fleet of 16 trucks and volunteers on foot.
“American Express is proud to once again support NYC Restaurant Week," said Dionne Rogers, Vice President, Client Management for American Express. “NYC Restaurant Week is a great opportunity to sample the many excellent restaurants of New York City and we are delighted to also be able to give back to the community through the program.”
NYC Restaurant Week Summer 2008 is produced by NYC & Company and supported by Founding Sponsor American Express, Participating Sponsor The Coca-Cola Company, and Partner I Love NY.
