Special Offers and Travelocity Booking Widget Housed on nycgo.com
New York City (April 21, 2009)—NYC & Company, the City’s official marketing, tourism and partnership organization, today launched NYC: The Real Deal, a new integrated marketing campaign to boost tourism to New York City this year. The first phase of NYC: The Real Deal, in place through June 30, offers “buy one, get the second one 50% off” at more than 100 NYC & Company member businesses and organizations, including museums, tours and attractions, arts and entertainment venues, nightlife spots, spa and beauty venues and transportation. Through the Travelocity widget housed on nycgo.com, consumers can also book hotel stays at “buy one, get the second night 50% off,” or better if available, at 26 participating hotels (book through May 30, travel by June 30). Consumers booking a hotel stay through nycgo.com’s Travelocity widget can also purchase tickets at “buy one, get the second 50% off” at 16 participating attractions or Broadway shows.
“The NYC: The Real Deal program is designed to entice visitors and locals to experience the vibrancy, energy and excitement of New York City while taking advantage of unprecedented savings this year,” said Jane Reiss, CMO of NYC & Company.
As part of the new Real Deal promotion, a new consumer microsite was also announced today: nycgo.com/realdeal, which details the multitude of special offers and gives visitors and locals an easy and convenient “one-stop shop” to build their next NYC itinerary. Whether it’s attending the Tribeca Film Festival, taking the kids to the newly renovated Brooklyn Children’s Museum, seeing Chicago, the Musical, or enjoying the New York Botanical Garden in the Bronx, there are multiple offers catering to every age group and interest throughout the five boroughs: the Bronx, Brooklyn, Queens, Manhattan and Staten Island. All the deals can be downloaded from the microsite. In addition, consumers will find the Travelocity booking widget conveniently located on the home page of nycgo.com for booking hotels, attractions and shows.
“Through our innovative relationship with Travelocity, we are offering consumers an outstanding New York City experience at a price that offers tremendous value,” said Fred Dixon, senior vice president, Tourism and Convention Development.
NYC: The Real Deal is being amplified through digital advertising overseas and through an out-of-home advertising program in the United Kingdom, Spain, Italy, Miami, Boston and New York City. The promotion will also be advertised on the MTA Long Island Rail Road and MTA Metro-North Railroad systems, and will be featured in taxicab videos throughout the City. The advertising media value for the promotional effort for the first phase is estimated at $4 million.
As part of NYC & Company’s yearlong economic stimulus effort, a second phase of NYC: The Real Deal will launch in May with retail and dining offers, followed by other attractive incentives to increase travel to New York City throughout the year.
“We are pleased to create the NYC: The Real Deal program that brings so much value to consumers while at the same time offering excellent visibility to NYC & Company’s members—this is a worthwhile effort to boost tourism to New York City in 2009,” said Kelly Ann Curtin, senior vice president of Membership and Convention Services.
NYC & Company, under the direction of creative director Willy Wong, worked with its agency of record, Bartle Bogle Hegarty, to create NYC: The Real Deal.
