New in NYC

The Met Breuer Opens Its Doors
With the opening of The Met Breuer this March, The Metropolitan Museum of Art expands its gallery space dedicated to modern and contemporary art. Originally designed by Bauhaus architect Marcel Breuer in 1963 as a home for the Whitney Museum of American Art, The Met Breuer will set the tone with ambitious inaugural exhibitions—Unfinished: Thoughts Left Visible, which explores works from the Renaissance to the present, as well as a retrospective of Indian abstract artist Nasreen Mohamedi. The museum also offers a free audio composition (available to download on March 1 via for the nine-minute walk between The Met Breuer and the main branch of The Metropolitan Museum of Art. Note that admission includes same-day access to both museums, along with The Cloisters farther uptown.

Itinerary Ideas

On Location Tours
The streets of New York City have played a starring role onscreen since the days of Edison, and On Location Tours takes visitors to some of the most iconic spots from beloved movies and TV shows. The lineup includes a "greatest hits" NYC TV & Movie Tour, and tours dedicated to classic movies and individual TV shows (Sex and the City, Gossip Girl and The Sopranos among them), as well as a walking tour of Central Park locations. Private group tours can be arranged, with options for families, corporate outings and "girls' night out"/bachelorette parties; the post-tour Make-a-Movie Workshop is perfect for school groups or team-building events.

Upcoming Events & Exhibitions

With Valentine's Day on the horizon, we've put together a menu of romantic dining spots, along with date-night ideas as well as the best (and coziest) indoor spots with a view of New York. For more to do, both inside and outside, all around the town, check out our winter and spring guides, and our events calendar.

Armory Arts Week
February 29–March 6
Armory Arts Week transforms the City into a sprawling art fair that brings together dealers, buyers, artists and the public for exhibitions, special events, talks, openings and, of course, parties. Anchoring all the activity is the Armory Show, March 3–6, which brings modern and contemporary work from more than 200 galleries around the world to Piers 92/94. This year's Armory Focus is "African Perspectives."

Warhol by the Book at The Morgan Library & Museum
February 5–May 15
Pop Art superstar Andy Warhol may be more known for his iconic screen prints, but no medium was outside his purview, and he had a long and fruitful engagement with books, starting as a designer and illustrator, and later, in collaboration with artists in his circle. As with all his work, Warhol's books reconfigured the relationships between creator and content, audience and marketplace. The Morgan, in collaboration with the Andy Warhol Museum, has collected volumes, drawings and archival materials—some never before seen—from more than 80 publications spanning the length of his career.
